Description
A compact cluster of moss roses in warm coral and orange red fills a glass vase set on a white tablecloth, their ruffled petals catching light against a deep, almost black background. The dark green leaves and stems are barely distinguished from the shadows around them, throwing the glowing blooms into sharp relief.
Renoir paints the roses with short, thick strokes of orange, coral and touches of yellow, working wet into wet so the petals seem to catch and hold the light. The white cloth beneath is handled more loosely, in cool blues and creams, grounding the intensity of the flowers above.
Painted in 1890 and held at the Musee d’Orsay, this piece is offered as a hand painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, a faithful copy for home display rather than the museum original.
