Description

A tall, slender vase decorated in blue and white holds a lavish arrangement of roses in pink, soft yellow and deep orange red, their heavy heads leaning outward in every direction. More blossoms lie scattered loose on the table below the vase, including pale yellow and coral roses that seem to have tumbled from the bouquet above.

Renoir paints against a warm golden ochre background that lets the pinks and yellows of the roses glow with unusual intensity, each bloom built from thick, confident strokes that suggest fullness and weight rather than fine botanical detail. The result is a rich, sun warmed still life rather than a precise floral study.

Painted in 1913 and held at the Hermitage Museum, this work is offered as a hand painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, a reproduction made for display rather than a replacement for the museum’s original.

The craft

The oil edition of this Renoir artwork is painted by hand on canvas. A canvas art print reproduces the image in ink, with the brushmarks visible in the picture rather than raised paint.

  • Oil editions painted individually by studio artists
  • Canvas prints reproduce the image on canvas
  • Individually quality-inspected before it leaves the studio
  • Made to order in your chosen size and presentation

Materials & Care

Materials

The oil reproduction is painted on cotton canvas; the art print is printed on canvas. Rolled canvas arrives without a stretcher. Stretched canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher frame; thin and thick frames are separate presentation choices.

On request, the studio provides a certificate for your hand-painted reproduction; it certifies the studio's work, not an original by the artist.

Care

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid cleaning products, prolonged direct sunlight and damp conditions.

Sizing

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the original, and can I match it?

The original at the Hermitage Museum measures approximately 61.5 x 50.7 cm. We can reproduce it at that scale or in other standard and custom sizes to suit your wall.

What is the difference between the oil and print options?

The hand painted oil reproduction is created stroke by stroke on canvas by a trained artist, reproducing Renoir's brushwork by hand. The archival giclee canvas print reproduces the image with fade resistant inks. Both are reproductions, not the original held at the Hermitage.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Each piece is made to order and shipped worldwide once complete, arriving ready to hang. Hand painted oil reproductions take longer to finish than canvas prints, given the additional painting time required.
