Description

Despite its title, this bouquet is far more than roses: tall red gladiolus like spikes and clusters of white flowers rise behind a single pale pink and white rose set prominently at the front, all gathered in a rounded brown earthenware jug. A dark purple bloom sits tucked among the white flowers on the right, adding a note of contrast to the warm palette.

Renoir lays the reds in thick, upright strokes that echo the shape of the spiky blooms, while the white flowers are built from loose dabs that catch the light against the darker foliage behind them. The jug and tabletop are painted in warm ochre and brown, with a red cloth glimpsed along the bottom edge of the canvas.

Painted in 1872, this work is offered as a hand painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, faithfully copying the original composition for home display.

The craft

The oil edition of this Renoir artwork is painted by hand on canvas. A canvas art print reproduces the image in ink, with the brushmarks visible in the picture rather than raised paint.

  • Oil editions painted individually by studio artists
  • Canvas prints reproduce the image on canvas
  • Individually quality-inspected before it leaves the studio
  • Made to order in your chosen size and presentation

Materials & Care

Materials

The oil reproduction is painted on cotton canvas; the art print is printed on canvas. Rolled canvas arrives without a stretcher. Stretched canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher frame; thin and thick frames are separate presentation choices.

On request, the studio provides a certificate for your hand-painted reproduction; it certifies the studio's work, not an original by the artist.

Care

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid cleaning products, prolonged direct sunlight and damp conditions.

Sizing

Choose a size and presentation in the options above. Both editions keep the original image proportions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes can this reproduction be ordered in?

This piece is available in a range of standard sizes, with custom dimensions available on request. No verified measurements survive for the original, so we size the reproduction to fit your wall rather than repeating an unconfirmed figure.

Do you offer a hand painted version, not just a print?

Yes. You can choose a hand painted oil reproduction, created stroke by stroke on canvas, or an archival giclee canvas print made with fade resistant inks. Both are faithful reproductions of the 1872 original, not the painting itself.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Each reproduction is made to order and shipped worldwide once finished, arriving ready to hang. Hand painted oil reproductions take longer to complete than canvas prints, since every stroke is painted by hand.
