Description
A small, distant figure in a straw hat walks alone through a sunlit meadow, all but swallowed by tall grass and wildflowers. Trees close in on either side of the clearing, their trunks pale against a dense wall of green foliage that fills most of the canvas.
Renoir builds the grass from short, flickering strokes of yellow-green and darker olive, letting patches of white and pink flowers punctuate the foreground, while the canopy above is worked into a thick, textured screen of greens. Light seems to pour down through gaps in the leaves, dissolving the edges of the path and the walking figure alike.
This piece is offered as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, a reproduction of Renoir’s original garden scene rather than the original painting.
