Description
A lush bouquet of pink and deep red peonies fills the canvas, their heavy blooms crowded together with sprays of small white daisies and one dark red poppy at the center. A few loose petals have already fallen onto the dark surface below the vase.
Painted early in Renoir’s career, the flowers are set against an almost black background so that every petal edge stands out sharply, pink, crimson and white built up in thick, confident touches of paint.
Reproduced as a hand-painted oil on canvas or as an archival canvas print, at its original 66.5 by 82.5 centimeters or scaled to any size, framed or unframed.
