Description
Renoir paints a stream or narrow river curving through a wooded landscape, its surface broken into ripples of blue, green and white where light catches the moving water. Dense trees in shifting greens, with touches of gold and orange, close in on both banks and meet in the middle distance beneath a pale blue sky brushed with soft cloud.
There are no figures or buildings here, only the play of reflected light on water and foliage, painted with the loose, rapid strokes typical of the small landscape studies Renoir made outdoors in his later years.
The original is held by the Barnes Foundation. What is offered here is a faithful reproduction: a hand-painted oil version on canvas, recreated stroke by stroke by a professional painter, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes.
