Description

This small profile portrait catches a young man mid-thought, his head turned to the left against a shimmering olive and gold ground built from short, flickering strokes. His dark hair is rendered in loose, textured touches, while his face is modeled in warm rose and cream tones that catch the light along his cheek and jaw.

He wears a black jacket with a soft white collar and dark bow tie, painted in broad, confident strokes that contrast with the more delicate handling of the face. Renoir signed and dated the canvas in the lower left corner, visible as loose brush lettering against the green background.
