Description
Bather and Maid (La Toilette de la baigneuse) presents two women beside a pond: in front, a seated nude bather holds a white cloth against her chest while a maid in a rust-orange dress stands behind her, gathering the bather’s very long auburn hair in both hands. Renoir painted the scene in 1900, setting the pair in dappled greenery with a straw hat trimmed in red flowers left on the ground nearby. The canvas, now at the Barnes Foundation, is one of several outdoor toilette scenes Renoir returned to around this period.
This wall-art reproduction reproduces the scene as a museum-quality canvas or fine-art paper print, made to order in a range of sizes and finishes, letting the contrast of the maid’s warm orange dress against the greenery anchor a larger wall.
