Description
A fair-haired child stands in profile, brush raised toward a canvas propped on an easel, wearing a loose white smock with a soft ruffled collar. The cheeks are rosy and the expression focused, caught in the act of painting rather than posing for a portrait.
Renoir sets the small figure against a deep red wall, with a vase of pink and white flowers glimpsed in the upper corner of the canvas. The brushwork on the child’s smock is loose and creamy, while the face is more tightly modeled, drawing the eye to the concentrated look on the young painter’s face.
This 1907 work, The little painter (Claude Renoir), is offered as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, made to order in a range of sizes and ready to hang on arrival.
