Description

A young woman stands with her hands at her waist, gathering the folds of her deep teal skirt, her loose white blouse slipping off one shoulder. Beside her, a basket overflowing with crisp white linen sits against a wall of warm red and green, catching the light in thick, snowy strokes that contrast with the softer color around it.

Renoir surrounds the figure with a shimmering, almost abstract interior, curtains and walls dissolved into overlapping bands of blue, green and gold that read more as light and atmosphere than as solid architecture.
