Description
A nude woman stands turned mostly away from the viewer, seen from behind and the side, her dark hair gathered up at the back of her head. She looks down and to her left with a gentle expression while holding a white cloth loosely at her hip. She stands in a garden thick with foliage painted in dabs of blue, green, gold, and touches of red, with a pale sky and distant hills visible behind her.
Painted in 1910, this is one of Renoir’s late bather studies, built up with warm, rounded brushwork that gives the figure a soft, sculptural weight against the flickering color of the garden. It belongs to the Barnes Foundation.
Standing Bather is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in a range of sizes and shipped ready to hang.
