Description
A small figure in an orange-red dress and hat sits amid dense greenery, framed by two slender tree trunks that open onto a view of the sea. A narrow band of violet-blue water fills the middle distance, meeting a hazy pink and mauve sky above rolling, tree-covered hills.
The foreground is built from loose dabs of green, yellow and ochre, giving the sense of thick coastal vegetation, while the seated woman’s bright clothing anchors the composition against the cooler tones of the water beyond.
Painted in 1917 and part of the Barnes Foundation collection, Seated Woman with Sea in the Distance (Femme assise au bord de la mer) is offered as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or an archival canvas print, made to order in a range of sizes and ready to hang.
