Description
Three figures, seen from behind, walk down a sandy path that cuts through high grass toward a glimpse of open sea. A wind-blown shrub leans in from the upper left, and deep blue water stretches away under a soft, cloud-streaked sky, with pale sails just visible on the horizon.
Renoir paints the grass in short, springy strokes of yellow-green and olive, letting sunlight flicker across the path in warm pink and cream tones. The figures are reduced to a few dabs of blue and white, small against the scale of the coastal landscape around them.
Road to Berneval is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, based on the original at the Museum Barberini, which measures 50 x 61 cm. This is a reproduction, not the original painting.
