Description

Renoir seats a young woman in a carved wooden armchair, wrapped in a dark, fur-trimmed coat fastened with round buttons down the front. Gold drop earrings catch the light, and her hands, one wearing a ring, rest folded together on a dark fur muff.

Behind her, dense green foliage fills the left of the canvas while a striped curtain in cool gray and mauve tones rises on the right, both grounds set against the warm ochre wood of the chair.
