Description

Renoir portrays an older woman with softly curled gray hair, her chin resting on her hand in a relaxed, familiar pose. She wears a loose tan and olive dress gathered at a lace collar fastened with a large button, the fabric painted in broad, warm strokes.

Cradled in her other arm is a small white and brown puppy, its head tucked against her sleeve. A deep, glowing red fills the background, warming the whole composition around her.
