Description
Young Man with a Carnation, painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1900, is a close half-length portrait of a young man with a neat mustache, dressed in a dark suit with a white collar and bow tie. A bright orange and yellow carnation is pinned to his lapel, and he holds a folded paper or book at the edge of the canvas.
Renoir sets the figure against a softly brushed olive-green background, letting the warm flesh tones of the face and the flash of orange at the chest carry the composition. The original, measuring 55 by 46 cm, is held at the Norton Museum of Art.
This work is offered as a museum-quality reproduction, printed on canvas or fine art paper in a range of sizes, with a frame preview shown before you order.
