Description
A young bather is seen from behind and in profile, her head bent forward and turned toward her shoulder, dark hair falling loose down her back. She lifts a piece of white drapery in both hands, drying or wringing it out, her pale pink toned skin set against a soft, hazy background of green and gold foliage.
Renoir builds the figure entirely from soft, blended strokes with almost no hard outlines, giving the body a warm, glowing softness typical of his bather studies of the later 1880s, when he was moving toward a smoother, more classical treatment of the nude.
This is offered as a faithful reproduction, not the original: a hand-painted oil version on canvas, recreated brushstroke by brushstroke by a professional painter, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes to suit any wall.
