Description
“Femme s’essuyant” (also known as “Après le bain”), painted in 1913, shows a heavyset nude woman seen from behind, seated outdoors and drying her arm with a white cloth after bathing. A second, reclining nude figure rests beside her among tousled fabric, set against a dense backdrop of golden foliage and a strip of blue sky.
Painted in Renoir’s late, richly worked style, the canvas is built from warm, glowing flesh tones that dissolve into the surrounding ochre and gold undergrowth, with the white towel providing the brightest accent in the composition.
This work is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on artist-grade canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, made to order in the size of your choice, available framed or unframed, and shipped worldwide.
