Description
A grassy path cuts through rolling green countryside as small figures make their way toward a cluster of thatched-roof cottages in the distance. One worker carries a large basket balanced on the shoulders, the kind used for gathering grapes at harvest time, while a child and a dog trail along the same track. Dense trees and rooftops crowd the right side of the canvas, and a pale, clouded sky stretches over the hills beyond.
Painted in 1879 and now held at the National Gallery of Art, this landscape measures 54.2 by 65.4 cm and shows Renoir’s loose, sunlit handling of a rural harvest scene.
The Grape Pickers is reproduced as a hand-painted oil copy on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in the size of your choice and delivered ready to hang.
