Description
Renoir looks across a wide, still stretch of the Seine at Argenteuil toward a low town huddled on the far bank, its rooftops and a slim church spire just visible through the haze. Two small rowboats with red-clad passengers cross the calm water, and a moored boat rests near the shore. In the foreground, a sandy path curves past dense rust-orange and green autumn brush.
The palette stays soft and pale throughout, cream sky blending into grey-blue water, so that the touches of red in the boats and the copper brush at the water’s edge carry most of the color in the scene.
This piece is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction or an archival canvas print, made to order in the size you choose, true to the proportions of the original painting.
