Description
Harvesters shows a golden wheat field crossed by a dirt path, with several figures scattered across the crop. In the middle distance a man in a white shirt and dark trousers walks between the stalks, while another figure bends low as if cutting or gathering wheat; further back, two women in dark clothing stand together near the path, and a thatched cottage sits at the edge of the field.
Renoir paints the wheat in warm strokes of gold, ochre, and brown that fill most of the canvas, with a pale, hazy sky above and a dark green hedge running along the path at the lower left. The figures are kept small and loosely defined, part of the field rather than its focus.
Painted in 1873, the original canvas measures 60 by 74 centimetres. We reproduce it as a hand-painted oil on canvas or as an archival print, offered in a range of sizes to suit a study, a hallway, or a larger wall.
