Description
“Femme sous un arbre” is a small, sun-warmed landscape from 1883: a lone woman in a dark cloak pauses on a dirt path beneath a great, wind-tossed tree, its foliage rendered in loose strokes of orange, rust and gold. Beyond her, low scrub and a few slender saplings run toward a pale blue sky, the whole scene built almost entirely from warm autumnal color against that one cool passage of sky.
The brushwork is quick and broken, closer to a plein-air sketch than a finished salon piece, giving the tree and undergrowth a flickering, almost windblown energy while the small figure anchors the composition.
This painting is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on artist-grade canvas or as an archival giclee canvas print, made to order in the size of your choice, available framed or unframed, and shipped worldwide.
