Description
Two women sit close together in a warmly lit interior, rendered in the soft, hazy brushwork of Renoir’s late style. One is seen from behind, her reddish hair tied back with a striped kerchief and her shoulders bare, while the other faces forward, resting her cheek on her hand, her loose blue-striped garment slipping from one shoulder. A vase of flowers glows in the upper corner, its colors echoing the warm skin tones throughout the canvas.
Painted in 1919 and now at the McNay Art Museum, this 67.3 by 76.8 cm canvas is one of Renoir’s final works, painted with the broad, glowing touch of his later years.
The Serenade is reproduced as a hand-painted oil copy on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in the size you need and shipped ready to hang.
