Description
A tree-lined lake shore unfolds in delicate washes of watercolor, painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1890. Golden-yellow autumn foliage on the left gives way to a dense green thicket at center, while a bare, gnarled branch curves across the upper right of the sheet. Beneath it all, the still water holds a soft, unfinished mirror of the trees above, with faint pencil underdrawing still visible around the edges of the paper.
