Description
A single tall tree with a pale, almost white trunk dominates this woodland clearing, its crown built up from countless small strokes of blue, green, and touches of pink and mauve that suggest sunlight flickering through the leaves. At its base a small white animal, perhaps a dog or a goat, grazes quietly in the long grass, a tiny note of life against the dense screen of foliage.
In the foreground a still pool of pale water mirrors the tree and sky, its surface picked out in soft strokes of blue and green. The whole scene is painted with a light, chalky touch and a high-keyed palette of blues, greens, and pinks typical of Renoir’s mid-1880s landscapes, when he explored a softer, more silvery way of painting outdoor light.
What is offered here is not the original but a faithful reproduction: a hand-painted oil version on canvas, recreated stroke by stroke by a professional painter, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, available in a range of sizes to suit any wall.
