Description
The Garden at Fontenay, painted by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1874, shows a woman and a child standing together on a garden path, framed by tall hollyhocks and other flowering plants in white, pink and red. Through a gap in the foliage a small house is visible, and a weeping willow trails its branches at the right of the canvas.
The garden is rendered in loose, warm brushwork, sunlit greens and golds threaded through with the bright dabs of the flowers, giving the whole scene a feeling of a bright, overgrown summer afternoon. The original, measuring 51 by 62 cm, is held in the Museum collection Am Römerholz.
This work is offered as a museum-quality reproduction, printed on canvas or fine art paper in a range of sizes, with a frame preview shown before you order.
