Description

Réunion dans le jardin gathers three figures around a rustic wooden table in a sun-drenched garden. A woman in a flowing orange-red dress and straw hat sits at left, turned toward two companions on low stools, one wrapped in a dark blue-violet shawl, the other in paler clothing topped with a striped hat.

Painted in 1911 and now held at the Musée d’Orsay, the canvas, 38 by 46 centimetres, dissolves the surrounding trees and foliage into loose strokes of yellow, green and gold, so the garden seems to glow around the seated group.
