Description
Two or three small fish, their scales flashing salmon-pink and cream, lie draped across a broad green leaf. Renoir set them down with loose, rapid strokes, leaving patches of the raw canvas visible at the edges of the composition.
The palette stays close and warm: deep bottle green for the leaf, coral and rose for the fish flesh, and a soft beige ground showing through unpainted corners. The brushwork is quick and confident, more sketch than finished tableau, capturing the fish as if freshly set on the kitchen table.
Available as a hand-painted oil reproduction or an archival canvas print, made to order in the size you choose, true to the proportions of the original small canvas.
