Description
A small, tightly packed bouquet gathers orange-red roses at the top and a cluster of white star-shaped narcissus below, their petals catching the light against dark green leaves. A warm golden background surrounds the flowers, close enough that the bouquet fills nearly the whole canvas.
Painted in 1914 and held by the Petit Palais in Paris, the small canvas (22 by 19 cm) pairs the roses’ warm orange against the cooler white of the narcissus, the two working as a deliberate contrast within a compact space. The print keeps the white petals crisp against the surrounding warmth, so the narcissus don’t dissolve into the golden ground.
