Description
This watercolor beach scene, inscribed “Le Moulin Huet” in the corner, sketches out a lively shoreline in loose, pale washes of ochre, lavender and rose. Small figures dot the sand: children play near the water, women in long pink and rust-colored dresses stand together, and a man in a top hat crouches with a stick, while striped bathing tents rise on the right and tiny sailboats dot the pale sea beyond.
Dated 1883, the sheet is worked with quick pen lines over thin, transparent color, capturing the bustle of a seaside holiday rather than any single figure in detail.
This beach scene is reproduced as a hand-painted oil copy on canvas or as an archival giclee print, made to order in a range of sizes and delivered ready to hang.
