Description
A shallow white porcelain bowl, its rim fluted like a shell, is piled high with ripe peaches, their skins streaked with rose, gold and green. One peach has rolled free of the group and rests alone on the tablecloth, closest to the viewer.
Renoir set the fruit against a densely patterned wallpaper of interlacing reds, greens and ochres, with a patch of blue breaking through at the upper right. The white cloth catches cool lavender shadows, while short, hatched brushstrokes animate every surface, from the glossy fruit skins to the folds of linen.
This still life is reproduced as a hand-painted oil reproduction or an archival canvas print, made to order in the size you choose, keeping the proportions of the original panel.
