Seen mostly from behind, a young woman with auburn hair pinned up sits astride a wooden chair, her white chemise slipped down to bare her neck, shoulders, and back, gathered loosely at her waist above a pale pink skirt. She turns her head to glance off to the side, her arm resting along the top rail of the chair. The background is built from warm, loosely brushed strokes of olive and ochre, keeping the light on her bare skin and the soft pink of her skirt.
