Description
Painted in 1875, this half-length portrait shows a young woman with upswept blonde hair nestling a tabby cat against her cheek. She looks down at the animal with a soft, private smile, her white blouse loosely brushed in quick strokes of cream and pale blue.
The cat’s striped fur is rendered in warm greys and browns, echoed by the floral upholstery glimpsed at the right, while a cool teal-green wall fills the background and sets off the warmth of the two figures.
Our print reproduces that cool teal backdrop and the softness of the cat’s fur with archival inks on canvas or fine-art paper, made to order in several sizes to suit any wall.
