Description
An enormous bouquet of chrysanthemums fills this canvas almost to the edges, red, orange, white, yellow, and pink blooms crowding together in shaggy, feathery petals. The flowers rise from a round ceramic vase painted deep blue and gold with a floral pattern, and a loose pile of extra blooms, yellow, orange, and cream, rests on the table beside it, as though just cut and set down.
Renoir’s brush treats each flower head as a burst of short, curling strokes, so the whole bouquet seems to vibrate with color and texture rather than sit still.
This still life is available as a hand-painted oil reproduction on canvas or as an archival canvas print, made to order in the size of your choice.
