Description
This small landscape looks across a bend in a river toward a cluster of pink roofed houses on the far bank, glimpsed through a mass of trees that dominates the composition. One trunk rises pale and bare through the canopy, while its neighbors carry patches of red and gold among the summer green, suggesting the first turn of autumn.
A dirt path curves along the near shore in the foreground, rendered in loose strokes of lavender, ochre, and green, under a soft blue sky brushed with cloud. The whole scene has the intimate, unforced feel of a view Renoir painted directly from nature rather than composed in the studio.
The painting is part of the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts of Reims. What is offered here is not that original but a faithful reproduction: a hand-painted oil version on canvas, recreated stroke by stroke by a professional painter, or an archival canvas print made with fade-resistant pigment inks, sized to match the original small study or scaled up for a larger wall.
