Description

This close-up pastel shows two young people caught mid-conversation. On the left, a woman in a dark, high-collared coat turns toward her companion, her straw hat trimmed with red flowers, a small bunch of violets held near her chest. On the right, a man seen from behind wears a striped shirt and a black-banded boater hat, his face turned toward her in profile. The soft, chalky strokes and hazy blue-green background give the scene an intimate, unposed feeling, as though the pair have paused mid-stroll. Painted around 1881 and today held by the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the work is traditionally linked to Aline Charigot, who would later become Renoir’s wife, though the identification remains a matter of speculation among scholars.

This museum-quality reproduction brings that same soft pastel texture to a wall-art print made to order for your home. Choose from canvas or fine-art paper finishes, sized to suit an entryway, a reading nook, or a gallery wall, so the tender exchange between these two figures can anchor a room the way the original anchors a museum collection.

The craft

The oil edition of this Renoir artwork is painted by hand on canvas. A canvas art print reproduces the image in ink, with the brushmarks visible in the picture rather than raised paint.

  • Oil editions painted individually by studio artists
  • Canvas prints reproduce the image on canvas
  • Individually quality-inspected before it leaves the studio
  • Made to order in your chosen size and presentation

Materials & Care

Materials

The oil reproduction is painted on cotton canvas; the art print is printed on canvas. Rolled canvas arrives without a stretcher. Stretched canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher frame; thin and thick frames are separate presentation choices.

On request, the studio provides a certificate for your hand-painted reproduction; it certifies the studio's work, not an original by the artist.

Care

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid cleaning products, prolonged direct sunlight and damp conditions.

Sizing

Choose a size and presentation in the options above. Both editions keep the original image proportions.
