Description

Deux femmes assises dans un jardin (1895) shows two women seated close together in a garden, wicker chairs visible behind them. One, seen mostly from behind, wears a wide straw hat piled with yellow and orange flowers, while the other, facing her in conversation, wears a plainer straw hat with a dark band and a navy bodice.

Renoir bathes the whole scene in warm golden light, the loose strokes of ochre and ivory giving the garden setting a soft, glowing haze.
