Description
Henriot Family (La Famille Henriot) gathers several figures outdoors beneath dappled foliage. On the left, a bearded man in a dark jacket sits reading a small book. At the centre, a young woman with long auburn hair wears a full white dress with a blue neck ribbon, seated on the grass with two small dogs, one white and one black, nestled against the folds of her skirt.
Behind her, a second woman in a blue shawl sits with her back partly turned, her dark hair pinned up. A straw hat trimmed with black ribbon and small flowers lies on the grass in the foreground. Renoir paints the whole scene with loose, feathery brushstrokes in blue, green, and cream, the leaves overhead broken into small dabs of colour that let dappled light fall across the group.
Painted in 1875 and held at the Barnes Foundation, the original measures 115.6 by 164.1 centimetres. We reproduce it as a hand-painted oil on canvas or as an archival print, available in a range of sizes to suit any wall.
